SALARY: $17 Hourly
REPORT TO: Tribal Police Chief

Position Summary

A Security Officer is an unarmed civilian employee under the direct supervision of the Round Valley Tribal Police Chief. A Security Officer is responsible for the performance of those departmental activities that do not require services of sworn police officers. A Security Officer is responsible for the performance of activities related to maintaining order, keeping the peace, and patrolling the Hidden Oaks grounds on foot and in vehicles to deter crime and show a presence of force. If or when requested, a Security Officer must respond to and assist with the Tribal Police Officers.

DUTIES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Report for duty at the assigned time and perform the duties ofa security officer at the direction of the shift supervisor.
  • Obey all lawful orders of superiors.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Hidden Oaks grounds and its geography.
  • Use proper radio procedures and maintain proper radio discipline at all times.
  • Be available to respond to calls for service, at the direction of the Tribal Police supervisor.
PERFORM ANY ACTIVITY AT THE DIRECTION OF THE SUPERVISOR INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMIT TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Direct traffic at traffic emergencies, special functions, or on fixed post duty.
  • Perform duties at the direction of a supervisor.
  • Report to Tribal Police any unusual cases of litter or debris.
  • Report situations involving fights, arguments, illegal activity that might or does cause alarm.
  • Supply security checks of vacant/unoccupied buildings.
  • Obey all lawful orders of superiors regardless of the division to which he or she is assigned, to the best of your ability.
  • Conduct patrols on foot or in vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. a valid Class C California Driver's License. Must be 18 years of age or older. Requires skills in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to remain calm and focused in emergency situations, work well under pressure and function at a high level under hectic conditions. A well-organized, self-motivated individual who is hard-working and detail oriented. Professional in appearance and conduct.
